APD | Chinese ballet "Red Detachment of Women" to debut in Spain

At the invitation of the Spanish government, the National Ballet of China, with a line of nearly 100 person, will be headed to Spain for the first time to participate in the Madrid International Dance Festival from December 1st to 8th.

During the festival, three consecutive Chinese classical ballet Red Detachment of Womenwill be presented for Spanish audiences at the Teatros del Cannal, Sala Roja from December 5th to 7th , which is referred to the “highlight” by the famous media Le Monde.

To mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain, the National Ballet of China’s performance on Madrid International Dance Festival surely will promote the great friendship of the two countries.

In order to highlight the unique charm of Chinese ballet in Spain, Feng Ying, the head of the National Ballet of China, even went into the classroom in person to direct rehearsals of actors and strictly control the quality of art.

The Red Detachment of Women has a certain era of the times, therefore the spirit, content and theme of the work is required to be expressed in an original and accurate way, Feng told APD.

At present, the performance has entered the countdown stage, and the actors of the National Ballet of China are doing the preparatory work in a race against time.

When talking about the significance of the performance, Feng said: This time, the National Ballet of China is invited by the Spanish government to participate in the 'Madrid International Dance Festival' to perform the Chinese classic ballet the Red Detachment of Women”, which is our first visit since the establishment of the National Ballet of China, and it is also a grand tribute to the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. We believe the National Ballet of China will once again show the charm of Chinese ballet on the international stage!
