APD | India: Prime Minister Modi meets world leaders at G20 summit

NEW DELHI, Dec.2 (APD) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a nine-point agenda to G20 member states on Friday and met world leaders at the Summit.

Modi, who is in Buenos Aires to attend the G20 Summit, presented the agenda during a session on international trade.

The agenda called for international cooperation, stressing, Cooperation in legal processes such as effective freezing of the proceeds of crime, early return of the offenders and efficient repatriation of the proceeds of crime should be enhanced and streamlined.

Prime Minister Modi also held a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It was the first trilateral of the three countries.

Cooperation in the fields of connectivity, counter-terrorism, cyber and maritime security were significant topics discussed in the trilateral. India emphasized its commitment towards Indo-Pacific security and common economic growth.

Modi also met President Xi Jinping, making it this year’s fourth meeting of the two leaders.

The Indian Prime Minister was greeted by the Indian diaspora in Argentina when he arrived on Thursday.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister also informed through twitter that India will host the 2022 G20 Summit. He said, “ In 2022 India completes 75 years since Independence. In that special year, India looks forward to welcoming the world to the G20 Summit!”

“Come to India, the world's fastest growing large economy! Know India’s rich history and diversity, and experience the warm Indian hospitality” he added.
