Three people are dead and nine others are hospitalized following a head-on collision involving a minibus carrying Chinese tourists on a highway in Western Australia on Sunday, 127 kilometers north of Perth, according to a CCTV reporter.

It took emergency responders some time to free those trapped in the wreckage before seven ambulances and two helicopters were able to transport the survivors for treatment. Local media outlet, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, has reported that at least three survivors remain in serious condition.

Considered to be one of the state's most notorious stretches of road, the 60-km Indian Ocean Drive witnessed six deaths in 2017.
