COLOMBO, Feb. 2 (APD) -- China on Saturday opened a film festival in Sri Lanka to mark the Chinese New Year.

The 4th Chinese Film Festival is being held at Sri Lanka’s National Film Corporation, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.

The film festival was open to the media on Friday and the public free of charge from 2nd to 6th February 2019.

“It is also an important event to celebrate the Chinese New Year and the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,” the Chinese Embassy said.

The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan and other officials attended the opening ceremony.
