APD | British Royals Visit Pakistan

By APD writer Rishika Chauhan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Pakistani Air Force Base, Nur Khan on Monday evening, beginning their visit to Pakistan.

The two visited a school in central Islamabad and met students. They also listened to students tell them about the Teach for Pakistan programme, which is modeled on the UK's Teach First scheme.

Talking to a student who said she was a fan of Princess Diana, Prince William’s mother, he said, “You were, really? Oh, that's very sweet of you. I was a big fan of my mother too. She came here three times. I was very small.”

According to a report published in the UK daily, “The visit by Prince William and Kate is designed to champion the importance of quality education, and highlight how girls benefit from pursuing higher education.”

The couple also visited the Margalla Hills National Park, in northern Islamabad, and met students at three local schools.

The British royals later had lunch with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan.
