APD | Mongolia’s nine-month foreign trade reaches 10.5 billion USD

Mongolia’s foreign trade turnover hit 10.5 billion USD in the first 9 months of this year, of which, 5.9 billion USD came from exports and the remaining 4.6 billion USD was worth of imports.

In September alone, the country shipped 559 million USD worth of goods abroad while spending 507.5 million USD on imports, down 256.6 million USD and 76.5 million USD respectively as compared to the previous month.

In the nine-month period, Mongolia enjoyed a trade surplus of 1.3 billion USD, up 415.5 million USD from 931.7 million USD recorded in the same period of 2018.

The 663.3 million USD rise in exports from the same period last year was thanks to the increases of 312.5 million USD in bituminous coal and 199.8 million USD in gold, unwrought or in semi-manufactured forms exports.

Exports of mineral products, textiles and textile articles, natural or cultured stones, precious metals jewelry made up 95.8 percent of the country’s total export. On the other hand, 68.3 percent of imports were mineral products, machinery, equipment, electric appliances, transport vehicle and its spare parts and food products

Mongolia is now trading with 145 countries and territories all over the world.
