During his stay, Bezos will review Amazon's India operations and also meet industrialists. According to reports, the Amazon chief has requested to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

His visit comes at a time when Amazon’s rival Walmart is investing heavily in India. Reports suggest that Amazon has committed investments worth $5.5 billion in India, while Walmart in 2018 put in $16 billion to buy a stake in Flipkart, a firm registered in India.
