Kazakh consul injured in Beirut explosions

Kazakh Consul Baglan Spabek suffered minor injuries in explosions that rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, the country's foreign ministry said.

When the explosion occurred, Spabek was still working inside the building of the Kazakh diplomatic mission. He sustained minor injuries due to the blast wave, the press service of the ministry said, adding that the building was also damaged.

According to the Kazakh defense ministry, none of Kazakhstan's 120 peacekeepers stationed in Lebanon were injured.

Two huge explosions rocked Beirut on Tuesday at around 6:10 p.m. local time (1610 GMT), killing at least 100 people and injuring 4,000 others.
