Ancient Cultural Street showcases Tianjin's specialties

Just over 100 kilometers to The souTheast of Beijing is Tianjin. The city has a folk culture which distinguishes it from many oTher parts of The North China Plain. The city’s ancient culture street samples some of that history.

When asked what to eat here in town, some local people would say, if you missed breakfast, you missed everything.

Jianbingguozi, is a kind of breakfast which is a little bit like a crepe. The flour of The pancake is made with mung beans which makes it very fluffy.

You can find many Jianbingguozi vendors in Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street. The street is an ideal place for tourists as well as family gaTherings during The weekend.

The Tianhougong Temple is located in The center of this ancient architectural complex. It is one of The three biggest Mazu temples in China. Mazu means Goddess of The Sea. In The old days, many fishermen worshipped Mazu.

The Mazu culture comes from China's eastern province of Fujian. Having a Mazu temple in The norThern part of China is rare, and that's what makes this site so precious. Many say that The Tianhougong Temple is The cradle of Tianjin folk culture.
